Emperor Khordavu’s Mines

After Emperor Khordavu dispersed the Beast Army and created the World Council of Friends, they sent him tribute from the lands North, East South and West. The mines of Kerofinela produced marvelous gemstones – the famed “Elemental gems”: Fire Rubies which would flare brighter and burn hotter than torches when the correct words were spoken; Ocean’s Tear Sapphires, which could suck the poison out of food or drink, or even the air; Storm Topazes that created breezes and could be used to control the weather; Hell Opals, dark stones of  immense powers, which could only be controlled by the most devout Sun Priests; the heavy StoneWood fragments, that could control the very earth and stones; and the Imperial Diamonds, which were used in the Diadem of the Emperor, as well as sewn to the hem of his robes. Some say that the Orb of Authority was formed from a single, perfect, Imperial Diamond.

The Mines of Khordavu are lost – all knowledge of them was lost when the Dragonmen roused the Dragons and destroyed the Golden Horde. But it is said that they were in the “Hills of Storm”, in a valley hidden by peaks reaching almost to the stars. A great city was built there to house the miners and the herds of diamond-shod Sarnath horses, which were so pure that they could not touch the ground with any part of their bodies. Only they were pure enough to carry the loads of gems from the mines to the Imperial city of Yuthuppa.
